Polyculture Food Systems

Again, nature is the master designer and in nature you never see a monoculture. Polyculture ecosystems function and flourish through large amounts of diversity. Plant biodiversity is invaluable because it balances ecosystems, protects watersheds, mitigates erosion, moderates climate, and provides shelter for animals.

In the event of a climatic event (i.e. late frost, drought, floods), disease, insect infestation a diversity of plant species mitigates a total loss of harvest.
